St. John Bosco founded the “Salesian Oratory of St. Francis de Sales” in 1841. His Oratory moeved around quite frequently around Turin, Italy. In 1846, it finally settled in the city’s Valdocco district. That same Oratory is still open to this day!

An Oratory is a place for young people to gather and play games, worship, learn the Good News and prepare for ones life!

An Oratory is not only a place for the young people to gather but it is an EXPERIENCE! There are 4 parts to an Oratory:

It is a HOME that welcomes and gives a sense of belonging and safety.

It is a CHURCH that evangelizes and gives faith meaning.

It is a SCHOOL that educates and enables critical thinking.

Ans lastly, it is a PLAYGROUND where friends meet, play and celebrate individuality.

All Salesian Work is inspired by the Oratory!

The Salesian Youth Centre – Cornwall was originally founded by the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco. Like with Don Bosco’s Oratory, this one has moved as well from one end of the city to another! The Salesian Youth Centre is now FUN Fridays!

FUN Fridays goes on Friday nights at Ste. Thérèse de Lisieux Parish (1304 Lisieux St. Cornwall ON.) The Centre begins at 6:30 PM and ends at 8:30 PM.

The Oratory is in the parish hall. Upon arriving at the church, you will make your way to the back where the entrance is located.

We welcome all children in grades 1 through 8 to the Oratory who speak any language, who come from any religion, or of any cultural background.
